London 2017

“The Impact of Brexit on the Romanian Community in the UK and on Romania”

The conference is part of the ‘Romania 2020’ series of GRASP events, where we analyze on a yearly basis an issue with a direct impact to Romania and the Romanian communities abroad.

Brexit will directly affect Romanians in the UK and will have implications for political and economic integration at regional and global levels. We will analyze the impact of Brexit from a political, social and economic point of view. The event will include coffee and lunch breaks and great opportunities for networking.

We have invited experts from different fields: business, education, as well as European, Romanian and British institutions. We will discuss the risks, but also the opportunities that Brexit presents. The four conference panels will tackle:

  1.     The state of play in the Brexit negotiations: access to the single market versus freedom of movement
    2.      Brexit and education: challenges for teachers, researchers and students
    3.      Brexit and the City of London: dealing with uncertainty
    4.      Brexit: opportunities for Romania

Panel four will be followed by a shorter applied panel targeting professionals considering entrepreneurship in Romania: business and funding suggestions.

The conference will end with a reception.

The conference will take place in English.

The conference is open to all professionals, students, researchers and other key stakeholders. We also welcome non-Romanian speaking participants. We are looking forward to seeing you on the 25th of November 2017!
